Responsibility

In our society, responsibility is fundamental. It establishes how we operate, perform, and relate to our clients, partners, and communities. We recognize the risks present in our industry and take our duties very seriously. We are aware that maintaining our reputation depends on keeping our word, acting morally long-term, and constantly showing respect to others.

We can invest in relationships thanks to our long-term perspective, which also guides how we manage our material possessions. We strive to operate our business in accordance with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and to collaborate with partners who, wherever they may be headquartered, share our commitment to operating to the highest international standards while acting with care for local stakeholders. We take great pride in the alliances we have forged throughout the years. Together with our partners, we search for the best long-term solutions and then offer them in an effective and secure manner.

Our Commitement

We are aware of the hazards associated with the energy and commodities industries, and we take our duty to protect the environment, human health, and other people very seriously. Furthermore, we try to minimize impact and hazards whenever feasible because we understand that our activities may have an effect on a wider stakeholder group, such as the communities in which we operate. We look to collaborate with partners who share our dedication to operating to the highest international standards in all of our physical activities. Our due diligence procedures apply to all of the infrastructure we rely on, including the ships, jetties, and storage. The asset-based businesses that are a part of the Houston Tank Terminal adhere to strict worldwide HSE standards, have the necessary HSE policies and processes in place, and follow all applicable laws.

What we expect

We anticipate that every employee will be knowledgeable about the dangers of each effort they take part in and considerate of their potential effects. Priority should be given to HSE concerns, and caution should be exercised.

Environmental Protection https://bkepterminals.com/environmental-protection/ https://bkepterminals.com/environmental-protection/#respond Thu, 28 Dec 2023 11:07:13 +0000 https://bkepterminals.com/?p=2283

Environmental Protection

The environment is impacted by our actions in both direct and indirect ways. As a result, we want to make every effort to project an image of our company as one that is as environmentally friendly as possible—one that uses as little energy as possible. We place a high priority on environmental preservation in all of our business ventures. However, while storing and transporting chemicals and petroleum products, spills can happen. It is our responsibility to implement preventive safety measures in order to significantly reduce this risk. In addition to consuming energy, water, a range of raw materials, and building materials, our locations also generate wastewater, trash, and airborne pollutants.

Our commitment is to lessening our environmental effect. As a result, our group of companies’ HSSE management system includes environmental concerns as a core element. We are committed to using energy and resources responsibly and promoting environmental awareness among employees in line with the HSSE Policy in order to minimize unfavorable effects. In order to find possible energy savings and put policies in place to increase energy efficiency, local operations on our tank terminals comply with our extensive Energy Saving Guideline. To evaluate our role in climate change, our holding company, Bkep Terminal Holding, LLC, computes the group’s carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint. Some of our subsidiaries have introduced climate protection initiatives option for customers who are willing to contribute to the protection of the environment through carbon capture.

Energy Efficiency

Our objective is to lower our energy consumption by developing energy-saving initiatives, improving facilities and processes, and raising staff awareness of energy-saving techniques. Direct and indirect energy sources are used by Bkep Terminal Holding, LLC to run its offices, facilities, locations, ships, and other equipment. Examples of direct energy use include heating oil, natural gas, and the fuel used to power our boilers, pumps, road tankers, owned bunker ships, and operating vehicles. Indirect energy, mainly electricity, is used by the computers in our offices worldwide, product pumps, lights at our tank terminals, hydrant systems, and illumination at our aviation fueling stations. We also use imported steam to a lesser extent and district heating as additional indirect energy sources.

Management of Resources

Our goal is to reduce our energy usage through increased staff knowledge, process and facility improvements, as well as the creation of energy-saving programs. Bkep Terminal Holding, LLC operates its offices, facilities, locations, vessels, and other equipment using direct and indirect energy sources. Natural gas, heating oil, and fuel used to run our pumps, boilers, owned bunker ships, operational vehicles, and road tankers are all examples of direct energy use. The computers in our offices around the world, as well as the product pumps, lights at our tank terminals, hydrant systems, and illumination at our aviation fueling locations, all use indirect energy, primarily electricity.

Other indirect sources of energy that we use include district heating and, to a lesser extent, imported stea In all we do, environmental stewardship is a top priority. In this regard, we yearly assess world consumption and are dedicated to the effective use of all resources. We encourage all of our staff to generate as little waste and wastewater as they can. The “4 Rs” — reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover — serve as the cornerstone of our approach to managing waste and wastewater. Water is a valuable resource, and its importance is made even more clear by climate change and the droughts it has caused, particularly in the world’s poorest nations.

To limit our detrimental effects on the water quality and to effectively utilise the water needed for our operational operations is vital to us. Yet, in general, our activities don’t necessitate a lot of water intake. Besides fresh water usage in the sanitary facilities in the offices, water is largely used at our tank terminals for cleaning tanks, hydrostatic tank testing and heating items. Since there is a high demand for water inside, we have incorporated water management into the Energy Saving Program to reduce water consumption. We are also looking at the possibilities of using recycled cleaning or cooling water in place of the drinking water now used for industrial purposes.
